Blue Burn™

Stoke your metabolic fire and slay at the gym

Feeling hangry, craving comfort foods, and stress-eating may be trendy memes or familiar feelings, but the underlying biochemistry is real, and it can mess with healthy weight goals. When you’re feeling chronically stressed, the body may produce an excess of the stress hormone cortisol, which can lead to increased appetite, cravings for sweet, fatty, and salty foods, overeating, and weight gain. Balancing stress levels and mood can make it easier to maintain executive function, self-regulation, and a healthy metabolism to meet weight goals. Blue Burn™ is specially formulated to help kick cravings and stress-eating to the curb, and boost your energy levels and metabolic fire, to support you in meeting your weight and fitness goals. Additionally, it supports your overall metabolic health which impacts several systems in your body from digestive, to endocrine, and nervous systems.

Here’s what gives Blue Burn™ its fire:

Gymnema (Gymnema sylvestre)

Sugar-craving killer

Gymnema is a traditional Ayurvedic herb known as the “sugar killer” and is native to India, Africa, and Australia.Gymnema has the unique capacity to reduce perception of sweet flavors, due to the presence of natural compounds called gymnemic acids, which selectively suppress sweet taste response without affecting the perception of other flavors. Gymnema has a traditional history of use that has been validated through clinical trials for supporting healthy blood sugar levels. In a 14-day placebo-controlled ‘sugar reset’ trial in healthy adults, intake of gymnema was found to reduce cravings and consumption of sweet foods in a laboratory setting. In addition to its “sugar killer” benefits, gymnema has many other traditional therapeutic uses for digestion and more.

Maca Root (Lepidium meyenii)

Regulation and energetic ally

Maca is a South American plant in the broccoli family native to the high altitudes of the Andes mountains, where it has been traditionally used as food, medicine, and animal fodder. More recently, maca has gained international popularity for its benefits as an energizing adaptogen to decrease fatigue. A small randomized placebo controlled clinical trial suggested that four weeks of maca supplementation could help reduce muscle contraction fatigue and improve endurance in athletes who perform high-intensity movement.

Maca is also used to balance hormones for both men and women. When it comes to weight management, hormones can play a role (especially for those going through menopause). Maca can help support metabolic balance as it relates to hormones, supporting normal blood sugar and lipid levels. Like many adaptogens, maca is also helpful for improving the body’s response to stress.

Barberry Root (Berberis vulgaris)

Berberine metabolic boost

Barberry’s tradition of medicinal use spans the globe, with 3,000+ years of historical usage in Ayurvedic, Iranian and Chinese medicine. It contains the active compound berberine, which has been shown to support healthy blood lipid levels, and healthy blood sugar levels for metabolic balance. This makes barberry useful to support weight loss and decrease obesity. Meta-analysis determined that barberry’s benefits for weight management are due to berberine’s ability to suppress the synthesis of fat cells in the body and regulate glucose metabolism. Barberry has many health benefits beyond metabolic balance, including immune support, healthy liver function, and antioxidant properties to fight free-radicals.

Ashwagandha Root (Withania somnifera)

Cortisol calmer

Ashwagandha is a traditional Ayurvedic herb that supports balanced energy levels and healthy sleep. It has gained global popularity as an adaptogen, useful for reducing stress and boosting strength. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study found that participants supplementing with ashwagandha daily showed a reduction in cortisol and stress.

In addition to its potential to decrease levels of the stress hormone cortisol, ashwagandha shows potential to reduce stress-related weight gain and the increased caloric intake that can come with stress. A clinical trial in adults under chronic stress who supplemented with ashwagandha for eight weeks showed significant improvements in happiness, perceived stress, and serum cortisol, as well as improvements in food cravings, body weight, and body mass index. Another randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial showed improved muscle mass and strength associated with eight weeks of ashwagandha supplementation.

Blue Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis)

Nutritional powerhouse

Blue spirulina is a natural extract of blue-green algae, high in the blue antioxidant pigment known as phycocyanin. First used as a food source by the Aztec people of Mexico, spirulina is packed with a spectrum of nutrients, including carotenoids, flavonoids, plant-based protein, iron, calcium magnesium, and chromium. Spirulina improves satiety to help decrease hunger, while supporting healthy blood lipid levels and body mass index. A review of clinical trials determined that supplementation with spirulina helps reduce weight and waist circumference, and that the benefits for body mass index improve the longer spirulina is used.

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum)

Blood sugar balance

This popular baking spice made from the fragrant inner bark of the cinnamon tree is actually shown to support healthy blood sugar levels, and can be helpful to support weight reduction. A clinical trial showed that 12 weeks of cinnamon supplementation resulted in decreased body mass index, waist circumference, waist–hip ratio, and fat mass.

Ginger Root (Zingiber officinale)

Get it moving

This spicy root helps put the burn in Blue Burn™ with its thermogenic (warming) effects. Ginger is known to help ease inflammation, thanks in part to its antioxidant properties, so it can help make workout recovery a little easier. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial of distance runners, ginger root supplementation for five days showed that ginger could have some beneficial effects on running-induced soreness. Meta analysis studies indicate that ginger also supports healthy blood lipid levels, decreases hunger, food intake, and increases satiety, as well as decreasing body weight, body mass index, waist-to-hip ratio, and body fat level.

Lemon Peel & Juice (Citrus limon)

Lemon is an excellent source of polyphenols, a type of flavonoids with free-radical fighting antioxidant properties. In pre-clinical experiments, lemon polyphenols suppressed body weight gain and body fat accumulation. Lemon can be a helpful support for lipid metabolism and reducing lipid accumulation.
